July 2008

30 July : Some revision tonight: Suzanne Suzanne and Backwoods Rumba.

23 July - Dave and Lesley Mather taught us Suzanne Suzanne tonight and as you can see from the video it was a great success. Desperately Yours is a dance enjoyed by some of our dancers. We've also had some revision of Rose Swing.

16 July : This week we taught Backwoods Rumba and everyone enjoyed it. We danced Slow Poke to How Are You Doing off the new Bellamy Brothers CD. The dance fitted very well and the music is lovely.

9 July : We had a revision of Slow Poke and also danced it to Don't Take Her She's all I've Got by Tracy Byrd. Goodbye Blues has also been revised. Take a look at two new videos from ARJJAZE: Backwoods Rumba and Just Thinkin'

2 July : We found a good dance to teach tonight Slow Poke and we put it to I Still Like Bologna by Alan Jackson. It's not choreographed to that track but we thought it would go well to our chosen music. Some of our dancers enjoyed dancing Sally Ann Cha Cha to Love & Honour by Ricky Van Shelton.

June 2008

25 June : East Coast Boogie is going down well - we even tried it to Boot Scootin' Boogie by Brooks & Dunn. Another revision of Here & Now Together.

18 June : Not many dancers in this evening for one reason or another but we did manage to teach a new dance: East Coast Boogie which we enjoyed. We also danced Pretty Baby which we haven't done for a while and had a quick revision of Oklahoma. We're also pleased that choreographers are now sending us their own videos of their dances - two new ones up this week: Unopened and of course East Coast Boogie which we taught. You can also view the Canadian video of Pretty Baby from our links page Les Fans Du Country which inspired us to teach it in the first place - great stuff.

11 June : Here and Now Together is very popular. We used a slow cha cha, Island by Eddie Raven as a teaching track and then we were confident enough to dance it to the choreographed track. Two new videos added this week: Diane Jackson's new dance Hot 'n' Cold and Angel of No Mercy from Pat & Ray Cartwright.

5 June : We welcomed Dave and Lesley Mather tonight and they taught us Here And Now Together which everyone enjoyed. Aprils Fool is a dance requested regularly as well as Dream Canyon.

May 2008

28 May : We did not have a club last week and so we spent some time this week refreshing some dances. We've really slowed down our teaching as we were having trouble remembering all the dances. With this in mind we think it would be a good idea to provide some Links to other video sites where you can view lots more dances.

21 May : NO CLUB THIS WEEK as there is a drama production in the hall - back to normal on 28 May.

15 May : We revised Reminisce tonight and we danced it to Bella Italia by Englebert Humperdink. We also had a refresh of In Love With Me and we danced it to Don't You Wish It Was True by John Fogerty. Chris and Andy Malpass have given us videos of the dances taught at Best of Friends Festival: That's How They Do It; Better Together; Uptown Rumba. Oklahoma was also taught but we've already got that dance on the site. There was also a bit of a drama because the power was cut off for about 20 minutes - the longest 20 minutes of my life!!!!.

7 May :: We had some revision tonight. We are very grateful to Diane Jackson who has sent us some of her dances for inclusion on the site: Vertical Rhythm; Carolionel Waltz and April's Fool.

April 2008

30 April : We welcomed Dave and Lesley Mather tonight and they taught us Johnny Come Home - a great fun dance to a good track of music. We already have a video of the dance on the site by ARJJAZE Country Dancers. We also made a new video of Oklahoma - this is going to be a very popular dance.

23 April : Taught Oklahoma tonight - a lovely track of music and everyone enjoyed the dance.

16 April : Had some more revision: Take Me By The Hand and Don't Blame Me. We also enjoyed dancing Our World to "Laid Back and Low Key" from the new Alan Jackson CD - Good Time and it fit quite well.

9 April : We taught In Love With Me a few weeks ago and we revised it again tonight. We also had another revision of Bluebonnet - a bit slow for some of our dancers. We put out a note to let everyone know that on 21 May we will be closed because the hall has a drama production. We will be back to normal the following week. Please make a note in your diaries.

2 April : We chose a slow dance to teach tonight - Bluebonnet. This is an old dance but it can be enjoyed to a very slow song. Our favorite dance at the moment is definitely Our World and we've danced it to different music when we go to socials.

March 2008

26 March : We had some revision tonight but we managed to make a video of April's Fool. We danced The Shadow to the new Reba McEntire/Ronnie Wood track "Does the Wind Still Blow in Oklahoma" and it was beautiful.

19 March : Teardrop Hustle this evening - a fun dance. When we go out socially we always do this dance to Billy Be Bad - George Jones which is faster than the track it was choreographed to. Our revision dance tonight was Don't Blame Me One dance that is going to be very popular is Our World - we've done a little walk through each week to make sure everyone knows it.

12 March : Another dance for our easy list: Heart Beats - a great track of music and the dance was easy to learn. We welcomed some visitors from Sweden, Carin and Johnny and they joined us on the floor for lots of dances, we had a really good evening. We had a revision of Go With The Flow tonight too.

5 March : We had some revision this evening: Our World which has had a good response from everyone, and Take Me By The Hand which we had taught some time ago. We also had a quick walk-through of In Love With Me.

February 2008

27 February : Our new dance this evening was Our World - the threequarter turn followed by a cross rock step was difficult for the men so they compensated by angling their body as far around as they could on count 4 and that made it easier for them. We also had a revision of Goodbye Blues.

20 February : Found In Love With Me on YouTube - something a little bit different and it went down well. We revised Autumn Leaves Cha Cha - it fits really well to the music. The bar used to open at about 9 pm but in future we won't have a bar at all, so we will all bring our own refreshments.

13 February : We just had some revision tonight. Don't Be Cruel and Rose Swing were two of the dances revised. Butterfly Waltz is very popular - its a nice easy waltz and last night we danced it to Someone Must Feel Like a Fool - Kenny Rogers.

6 February : A lovely slow dance tonight: Go With The Flow and it did flow - we all enjoyed it. We made a new video of Old Flame to a track by Linda Davies - Do I Do It To You - a nice swing song. I know I often mention Summer Rhumba but we do it every week to a different track and it fills the floor every time. Tonight we danced it to He Will Be Mine by Carlene Carter.

January 2008

30 January : We introduced two new easy dances tonight: Rose Swing and Butterfly Waltz. Some of our dancers enjoyed New York. Each of these dances have been on the circuit for many years - oldies but goodies.

23 January : Fishing in the Dark was our new dance tonight - an easy dance and one to add to our Easy Dances list. East Coast Switch is a great swing dance and we danced it last night to Playing Every Honky Tonk in Town by Heather Myles.

16 January : We enjoyed Autumn Leaves Cha Cha tonight - a nice slow flowing cha cha and the music is lovely too. The dance we taught last week Don't Blame Me is a great dance and we also enjoyed it last Friday at our local social. The band played a good swing track and everyone was on the floor. Come 'n' Cry continues to be one of our favourite dances and last night we danced it to Old One Better by Tracy Byrd.

9 January : We taught a new dance tonight Don't Blame Me. We preferred the second choice of music Whiskey Under The Bridge by Brooks & Dunn. We revised Don't Be Cruel which proves to be very popular.

December 2007

12 December : We revised Don't Be Cruel tonight and later we danced it to My Baby No Esta Agui by Garth Brooks and it went well. Western Mambo went good to Wastin' Time With You by Carlene Carter.

5 December : Taught a new dance tonight - Don't Be Cruel. A great 32 count slot dance which everyone enjoyed. We liked it to Louisana Saturday Night best. Summer Rhumba continues to be a favorite and tonight we danced it to Evangelina by Hoyt Axton - gorgeous.

November 2007

28 November : We enjoyed a good swing dance tonight Swing In Time. One of the good things about this dance is that we'll use lots of different tracks of music. Western Mambo is proving to be very popular as is I Love This Bar. Its great to see The Shadow fill the floor.

21 November : We had some revision tonight. We made a video of Desperately Yours which some of our dancers knew. We like dancing Sweet Tea to C-O-U-N-T-R-Y by Joe Diffie.

14 November : We introduced Diane Jackson's new dance Country DJ and we were also pleased to receive Diane's video of the dance too. I Love This Bar continues to be a class favourite.

7 November : The Shadow was the dance taught tonight - a lovely easy dance. Later in the evening we danced it to "Does the Wind Still Blow in Oklahoma" from the new Reba Duets CD. Western Mambo is proving to be a very popular dance we tried "Any Way the Wind Blows" - Brothers Phelps and it went brilliantly.

October 2007

31 October : An exciting dance tonight - Western Mambo and everyone liked it. I was pleased when we revised Foxy Trot that everyone was on the floor dancing. We danced Come 'n Cry to Brooksmith Texas by Larry Joe Taylor and This is Us Too to This Ain't Dallas by Hank Williams Jnr.

24 October : Sweet Tea was the new dance this week - a nice easy dance. We also made a new video of Summer Rhumba using the music the dance was choreographed to. The dance we taught a few weeks ago Too Country went really well to Linda Lou by The Tractors.

17 October : We revised Come 'n Cry as we enjoy this dance very much - again it goes to lots of tracks and we danced it to He Drinks Tequila by Sammy Kershaw later on in the evening. We also taught Foxt Trot 4 Couples although some found it quite tricky, I hope that eventually everyone will feel more comfortable with it. Some of our dancers danced Lone Star Blues which looks a really good dance.

10 October : We taught Dream Canyon again at the beginning of the evening as some people had not learnt it. It proves to be a very popular dance and we've danced it to some other lovely cha cha tracks - Throw Me Away by Charlie Landsborough went great.

3 October : We were ready for a nice easy lively dance tonight and Too Country fit the bill perfectly. You can see how everyone enjoyed it - later in the evening we danced it to the alternative track She's Still in Dallas - Hal Ketchum. We had some two steppers going around the floor when we played "It Wouldn't Hurt to Have Wings" - Mark Chesnutt whilst the partner dancers danced This is Us Too.

September 2007

26 September : I'm introducing a lot more revision as we're having difficulty remembering all the dances. It's OK in our class but when we go out to socials we're not all that confident with the dances. We had a revision of Don't Rock the Jukebox - we danced it to "Boot Scottin' Boogie" - Hank Williams Jnr. We also revised Mr. Teardrop which is definitely one of our favourites.

19 September : We taught Mr. Teardrop - it's a lovely dance and everyone enjoyed it. We danced it twice to Mr. Teardrop by David Ball and then tried it to the other track, Apartment #9 by Mark Chesnutt which was slightly slower but just as nice. We also put Paradise on the site. This is a western tango choreographed by Pat & Sue Griffiths some years ago - it goes to lots of different music - try Smokey Places by Ronnie McDowell.

12 September : Revision this week. Dream Canyon is very popular and last night we danced it to Gulf of Mexico by Clint Black.

5 September : We had some fun tonight with a dance I had adapted to a partner dance Baby Jane. It is a good easy little dance and the music is by our local artist Paul Bailey and is available on a free download. (Information on the dance sheet)

August 2007

29 August : We welcomed Dave & Lesley Mather again this week and they taught us a lovely cha cha Dream Canyon. The dance was taught at the Rocky Tops Weekend which was dedicated to oldies but goodies dances. We also made another video of PD 2 Night to a that great night club 2 step track Remember When by Alan Jackson

22 August : Back to the archives this week as we taught Don't Rock The Jukebox. An easy lively dance that we'll do to lots of different swing music. We also made another video of I Love This Bar as now we're all getting used to the pause when the music stops.

15 August : We had some fun with I Love This Bar. There is a four count pause in the song near the end and everyone stops dancing for four counts (Like playing statues)

8 August : We had some revision tonight including Dancin' Time and also made a new video of West Texas Waltz. Sylvia and Alan Priestley showed us their new dance Blue Reflections which is now on the site.

1 August : Thumbin' My Way is a dance that is becoming very popular and everyone enjoyed it. We have learnt so many dances lately that we need to make next week a night of revision.

July 2007

25 July : Although Afraid video is on the site, not all of our dancers had been taught it and it is a very popular dance at our local social. We therefore taught it and now everyone can enjoy it. We got Silver Shadow on the site this week too.

18 July : Lovely dance taught this week - Dancin' Time - the music is great too. Whenever any of our dancers get on the floor for a particular dance we try to get it on video - be it an old dance or a new one. Tonight we managed to video Sioux City Shuffle which looked really good. If anyone knows the choreographer please let us know.

11 July : We made another video of Goodbye Blues and also put Rolling Nowhere on the site. We revised the dances taught last week including William's Waltz but we still had a full floor for Mexican Wind.

4 July : We taught two dances tonight: William's Waltz and Goodbye Blues. Both dances were well received. Diane Jackson introduced us to William's Waltz as she sent us the video of AJJAZE doing the dance. Goodbye Blues is a popular dance in our area.

June 2007

27 June : We are enjoying Out of my Mind. We also managed to video Whiskey Wiggle and East Coast Switch - both older dances but are still danced regularly.

20 June : A lovely slow dance this week Out of my Mind - a nice flowing stroll. We put Ten Step on video and Longbranch Hustle

13 June : We're finally getting to grips with Pretty Baby and we managed to make a video using "High Class Lady" - The Lennerockers. The dance has some nice hand styling movements which we'll add once we're comfortable with the footwork. We also introduced Figure 8 Cha Cha - an old dance but new to some. Blue Rose now has a video too.

6 June : We had a revision of Pretty Baby tonight. It has been quite a difficult dance for us but I am sure all the effort will have been worthwhile. We have welcomed some new dancers and they have enjoyed: Mr. Moonshine; Old Flame: Lover Please Come Back and The J&T - all good beginner dances

May 2007

30 May : We introduced Pretty Baby this week. It is an intermediate fast dance which will take some practice. We used "Move It On Over" - Hank Williams Jnr as an alternative country track. We should have our video ready for next week. Meanwhile take a look at this website: http://www.unvraifandeladansecountry.com/ It is a Canadian site and is in French but you can click on the little TV icon to see the videos and the other little icon to download the dance sheet (French)

23 May : We taught a nice easy dance tonight: Lover Please Come Back which everyone enjoyed. The J&T which is an old dance we have revised, is very popular and danced at our local social by everyone.

16 May : One Tender Night was the dance taught - San Antonio Stroll by Tanya Tucker is the dancers faviourite track for this dance. We danced Lonestar Shuffle to "I Threw Away The Rose" by Lori Morgan.

9 May : We will try to introduce an old dance each month and tonight we taught The J&T which is a short lively swing dance. We also made videos for Elaine's Waltz; Hand in Hand and Don't Look Away.

2 May : We welcomed Dave and Leslie Mather tonight and they taught Now I Know. The dance has an interesting turn and we enjoyed it very much. We also managed to video Shades of Blue so that video has now been added to our list. We tried Reminisce to a different track this week - "There's No Getting Over Me" by Ronnie Milsap and we've changed the video too.
